New Zealand based long distance Spireites fan Chris Brough is over visiting relatives in the area at the moment but he's certainly seen some goals since he arrived. He got here in time to witness the flowing football displayed during the 5-2 demolition of the Brewers and enjoyed the Youth team's canter to the 2nd round of the Youth Cup over local rival Mansfield Town.
Chris was brought up in Pilsley (the one near Tibshelf and Clay Cross rather than the Chatsworth Estate) and emigrated to New Zealand to further his career fifteen years ago. His devotion to the Spireites has never wavered despite having to give up a nights's sleep to listen to match commentary on Spireites Player.
Spireites Player caught up with Chris after yesterday's superb win over Barnet:
"I'm so thrilled to have been here to witness two home wins, both excellent in their own way. Yesterday was probably a bigger win that the week before. Barnet were a good strong side and caused us problems. So to clinch three points and keep a clean sheet was very important. I cam go back home to New Zealand safe in the knowledge that we are in good hands. John Sheridan has moulded a side that is a pleasure to watch and will hopefully bring us the success that we all crave"
Safe journey home Chris and come back to Saltergate soon !
