FLYING THE FLAG FOR THE SPIREITES

Life-long fan Mark Heanue, a building control administrator for the NICEIC, was one of the first to sample the delights of the new stadium when he went along recently to see the very first competitive game at the venue, an Under 21 International.

The game between England U21s v Italy U21s ended 3-3 but Mark reckons it was a great opening game for a magnificent stadium
Mark now lives in Luton, having moved from Chesterfield 23 years ago but still supports his home town team on a regular basis and was at Saltergate for the Blues last home game when Gillingham made a 'smash and grab' raid for all three points.
Mark said: "I had been to the old Wembley 52 times so I had to have a look at the new one and it really was worth the wait."
"There is so much legroom and being only six rows from the front the view was superb."
"The visit was a spur of the moment decision. I'd got the day off so went on the website and was delighted to get a ticket."
Mark added: "You never know, we might be there next season in the play-offs again, although I'm not quite sure which division we'll be in."
