They beat Port Vale 3-2 on penalties in the northern regional final to earn a trip to Wembley Stadium where they will play the southern regional finalist Lincoln City in the national final before the League 2 Play-Off final on Saturday 23 May 2009.

Organised by Andy Morris and Chesterfield FC in the Community Scheme, the team from Killamarsh Junior School beat off local competition from other local primary schools, in a local tournament held at Middlecroft, for the right to represent the football club in the northern regional finals played at Bury this week against teams from other League 2 clubs.

After losing their first league game to Port Vale in a tight game 1-0, they rallied to beat Grimsby, Darlington, Dagenham & Redbridge and Bradford all by 2-0 score lines. They went on to beat Chester City 1-0 in the semi-final.  In the final they came up against Port Vale for a second time but this time were the victors in a tense game that ended goalless before going to penalties.  In the penalty-shoot out the lads from Killamarsh won 3-2 to set up the Wembley final.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "Everyone at Chesterfield FC wishes the team well and hope they fully enjoy what should prove to be a magical experience at Wembley."

It's the second time in recent years that a team from Chesterfield has made progress in the Community Cup after St Mary's Primary School shared the trophy in 2007.
