Chesterfield FC has been awarded Bronze status by The Football League Trust for its work in the community. The club will now receive £24k, which will be invested into local community activities.
Spireites community staff were recently assessed by the Trust Regional management team, who found that the club's community work met the required standard for a Bronze award.
In addition to fulfilling the Trust's Minimum Charter standard, the club's community staff demonstrated the following:
A coach to child ratio of 1:16 for all activity
All activity led by an FA Level 2 qualified coach or above
A published business plan with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Delivering to at least one of the Trust's 4 main themes of health, education, social inclusion/ community cohesion and sports participation
Establishing working partnerships with external agencies eg local authorities
Working towards charitable status by the end of 2009

Bronze Awards have been made to 20 Championship clubs, 19 in League 1 and 17 in League 2.
Football League Trust general manager, Dave Edmundson said: "We have been extremely impressed by the standard of community work across the country. We are sure the investment will benefit the many thousands who participate in community activities with Football League clubs."
CFC community director John Croot said: "This is an excellent achievement after only our first year operating as Chesterfield FC in the Community and we are now aiming at the Silver Award, which is only attainable after we get charitable status."
Chesterfield FC in the Community also provides football coaching for youngsters at local schools, a Saturday morning soccer school, a holiday child-care club, school visits to Saltergate, birthday parties, and much more.
