Chesterfield Football Club may ply their trade in one of the lower leagues, but their friendship and hospitality is certainly Premiership Class. Three young reporters George South (Year 9), Richard Norris (Year 11) and Chris Aldred (Year 12) from Newbold Community School had a day to remember when they were given the unique opportunity to cover Chesterfield's last match of the season against local rivals Notts County.

With their press passes in hand they were given privileged access to the manager, players and club officials all of whom went out of their way to be friendly and informative. Phil Tooley and John Croot were wonderful hosts giving us a guided tour of the stadium and interesting insights into the history of the club.

(Did you know the Ground dates back to 1871 and is the oldest in the league? And the Kop has a new name for next season?- Phil did, along with a myriad of facts and club statistics that he produces for every game).

The warmth and friendliness of everyone we met, was matched by the spring sunshine as the day ended with our reporters posing for pictures with the players, having shirts signed and asking Lee Richardson about his future plans for promotion next year. He had already signed a new player, but his name was the only thing he wouldn't tell us.

Thank you Chesterfield Football Club, for a day we will never forget. We hope to be back next year to report on your promotion campaign.
