The former Chesterfield youth team player made 15 appearances, and scored 6 goals, at the start of last season, before suffering cruciate ligament damage, which required an operation from which he is still recovering.

He said: "This is the worst injury of my career and I appreciate the support shown by the club.

He added: "I have spent most of the summer at Lilleshall and am hoping that I can build on the progress made there now we are back for pre-season.  I want to get back into full training as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, forward Wade Small has decided not to accept the offer of a new contract with Chesterfield and has left the club.
