Former Walsall midfielder Dwayne Mattis has joined the Spireites on a two year deal which runs from 1 July 2010 until 30 June 2012.
The 28 year old energetic midfielder came through the ranks at home-town club Huddersfield Town before joining Bury in 2004 where he made a big impact in over 100 appearances. His performances earned him a £50,000 move into the Championship with Barnsley in January 2007.
The former Republic of Ireland U21 International joined Walsall on loan in September 2007 but injury brought a premature end to his stay before he returned to the Saddlers to sign on a permanent basis in July 2008.

Dwayne Mattis said: "Although I am dropping down a division I am delighted to join Chesterfield after seeing the club's fantastic new stadium and hearing the manager's plans for next season."
He added: "If it all comes to fruition I think there is plenty for the fans to get excited about."
