Chesterfield supporters are being asked to wear their football shirts with pride for the Spireites last ever league game at Saltergate this Saturday 8 May, against AFC Bournemouth, kick-off 3.00pm.
With a sell-out crowd of nearly 8,000 for the all ticket game the football club is asking its supporters to create a real splash of colour by coming to the game in whatever Chesterfield football shirt they still have, and from whatever era, as football at the Recreation Ground comes to an end after 139 years.

Chesterfield chairman Barrie Hubbard said: "Saturday is a big celebration for all the wonderful memories each of us have of watching football at Saltergate and fans are very welcome to come along on this special day in their favourite Chesterfield shirt for one last time."

The day's celebrations begin in the morning with two hours of fun and nostalgia as fans go down memory lane in a special ticketed event at the Pomegranate Theatre from 11.00am, followed by a big parade up to Saltergate with the Holymoorside Brass Band and cheerleaders the Spirettes, starting at 1.15pm. The winner of a Pomegranate raffle will get the prestigious job of delivering the matchball to the match referee.
The parade route from Rykneld Square (Tourist Info Centre) is via Burlington Street, High Street, Soresby Street, Rose Hill, Town Hall, Rose Hill East, Saltergate to the Recreation Ground.
A commemorative A4 size 132 page full colour matchday programme is already on sale at the Spireites Club Shop. You can also buy online.

Immediately after the match it is planned for the players to leave the field of play and come up into the directors box to take their traditional bow.
Chesterfield Barrie Hubbard will then say a few words about the occasion before a few tunes are played and everyone can say their own personal farewells to the Recreation Ground.
