Ashgate Hospice has benefited from a £2,000 donation by Chesterfield FC after being nominated to receive funds raised by the FA Community Shield.
The money is part of the national distribution of funds raised by the traditional curtain-raiser to the domestic season between the Premier League champions and FA Cup champions. Current holder of the FA Community Shield is Chelsea which beat Manchester United 4-1 on penalties after drawing at Wembley Stadium in August 2009.
Chesterfield chief executive Carol Wilby said: "Ashgate Hospice is always worthy of support and is onc again the club's nominated charity to receive these funds this year."
Ashgate Hospice fund-raiser Emily Evans said: "A big thank you to the Spireites for making us their nominated charities for a share of the FA Community Shield Fund."
Over the last few seasons the Spireites have been able to donate a total of nearly £32,000 to local nominated charities, such as the Hospice.
