Sheffield Assay Master, Ashley Carson, has been appointed as a director of Chesterfield FC and takes up his post immediately.
He was a director of Sheffield Wednesday for over four years and heads the Sheffield Assay Office, which hallmarks and analyses metals. It is one of Sheffield oldest companies, dating back to 1773.
Ashley Carson said: "I was approached some months ago but only got the green light to join the board last week after the Football League satisfied itself that there was no dual interest and that I had no shares in any other football club."
He added: "Chesterfield's move to the new b2net stadium brings exciting opportunities other than just football, all under the brand of Chesterfield FC, and I intend to play a full part in what is now a very exciting future for the club."
Meanwhile, Chesterfield's majority shareholder Dave Allen said: "I am delighted that Ashley is joining the board as he was such a great help when I was chairman at Sheffield Wednesday by bringing in a terrific amount of sponsorship for the Academy. In addition, he was a great asset for the banqueting side of the business."
He added: "As Assay Master in Sheffield he is a high profile guy and I am sure that Chesterfield FC will benefit greatly by this appointment."
Spireites chairman Barrie Hubbard said: "Ashley joins the board just at the right time as there is so much to do and he has a wealth of experience that will help us."
