John Sheridan Wins February Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month Award

Chesterfield boss John Sheridan was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for February.

Sheridan masterminded another hugely successful month for Chesterfield, with his side notching up five wins from their six league games. Their winning streak included victories over Lincoln City, Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra but the undoubted highlight was the Spireites narrow win over high-flying Bury to help strengthen their push for an automatic promotion place in Coca-Cola League 2.

Also short-listed for the February award were Alan Knill of Bury, Ian Sampson of Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town's Paul Simpson.

Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "John Sheridan's side kept up the heat on the League 2 leaders with a string of impressive performances in February. Their win over Bury was a tremendous result and helped to underline their credentials as serious promotion contenders this season."

Nigel Pearson of Leicester City won the award in the Championship and Lee Clark of Huddersfield Town was given the League 1 accolade.

The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel. Headed by Alan Curbishley the panel also includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
