Currie joins Dagenham & Redbridge

Spireites midfielder Darren Currie has joined Dagenham & Redbridge after his six week loan spell became a permanent move.

He has agreed an eighteen month deal with the Daggers following his release by the Spireites.

 

The Hampstead born 36 year old is a former West Ham trainee who hit the headlines with Wycombe Wanderers before moving to Championship side Ipswich Town for £250,000 in 2004 following a short spell with Brighton & Hove Albion.

 

After loan spells at Coventry City and Derby County he joined Luton Town in July 2007 but was released from his contract by the Bedfordshire club.  He signed a three year deal with the Spireites in July 2008 but moved on loan to the Daggers in November 2009.

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan said: "This is a move that suits everyone concerned and we wish Darren all the best for the future."

 

Vastly experienced Darren Currie has made a total of 721 appearances for thirteen clubs in his career so far, scoring 87 goals.  He made 37 appearances for Chesterfield, scoring five goals.
