It may only be September, but Chesterfield can already boast another new trophy in their cabinet, after scooping the Johnstone's Paint Trophy's Team of the Round accolade.

The Spireites have become the first Football League club to lay their hands on the season's first trophy thanks to their outstanding 5-1 victory at Burton Albion in the first round of the competition.

A Johnstone's Paint Trophy panel voted the performance as the most impressive of round one, when they romped to an away win which featured a double from Wade Small on his debut, a double from Drew Talbot, and a goal from current leading scorer Jamie Lowry.

The award was officially presented this week to assistant manager Tommy Wright by Johnstone Paint's sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick in front of the Sky Sports TV cameras.

Wade Small, Mark Crossley and Rob Page were also there to accept the award on behalf of the team.

It is hoped that the honour will inspire the League Two side as it seeks a lengthy run in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Boss John Sheridan said: "It is lovely to receive this award so early in the season, which we hope will galvanise the lads as they get ready for the next round.

The Spireties are hoping to make it a real family night out at Saltergate for the visit of Huddersfield Town in the second round on Tuesday 6 October 2009, kick-off 7.30pm.

There are reduced prices in all parts of the ground and the cost for youngsters under age 15 is just £1 - yes Quid a Kid is back.

Supporters won't even need a ticket as the game is all pay on the night for everyone.
