Confirmation that the transfer of Luton Town striker Drew Talbot has now been completed after the player signed a two year deal with the Spireites until June 2011 earlier in the week.
The 23 year old goes straight into the squad for this Saturday's pre-season friendly ar Kettering Town.
Talbot spent time on-loan at Saltergate last season scoring twice in 17 starts for the Derbyshire outfit.
The Barnsley-born forward made his last appearance for the Hatters in the Johnstone Paint Trophy semi-final first leg match against Brighton & Hove Albion in January.
Arriving at Kenilworth Road from Sheffield Wednesday in January 2007 for £250,000, Talbot went on to make 63 appearances for the Town scoring three goals.
Hatters boss Mick Harford, explained the striker departure was down to a combination of geographical and financial reasons.
He said: "I'm obviously disappointed to see Drew go but we sat down and tried to negotiate with him on a reduce salary but the pull of moving back up north was something he wanted and we couldn't compete with.
"Drew had looked sharp this pre-season and I wanted him to be a part of our plans but it wasn't to be and he goes to Chesterfield with my best wishes for the future."
Meanwhile, Chesterfield manager John Sheridan said: "I know that Drew did well here on loan last season and his pace and work rate will be a real asset. I am delighted that he is joining us."
