A former loanee looks set to join the Spireites on a permanent basis.

Striker Drew Talbot, who was on loan from Luton Town last season, has agreed terms with Chesterfield on a two year deal until June 2011 after being granted a free transfer by the Kenilworth Road club.

The deal is expected to be finalised this Wednesday after all the paperwork has been completed.

He was in attendance at Saltergate to watch the Spireites pre-season game against Leicester City.

The 23 year old, who started his career with Sheffield Wednesday, was signed by the Hatters for £250,000 in 2007. He made 17 appearances on loan with the Spireites last season.
