Over 40 applications have so far been received for the vacant manager's job at Chesterfield FC

As one of only 92 professional football club manager's jobs in the country it is not surprising that the vacant Spireites manager's role is generating a lot of interest from quality applicants up and down the country.

The intention is to start to sift through all the applications next week and then to take a more serious look at the top half-dozen, when an interview stage will be introduced.

Depending on progress it is hoped that the Spireites new manager can be appointed early in June.
