The 33 year old, who was manager Lee Richardson's first major signing of the summer, is a former Wales captain, and has captained his former clubs, Watford, Sheffield United, Coventry City, and most recently Huddersfield Town.

He has 42 international caps and has made a total of 485 club appearances in his career so far.

As well as so far capturing the new players, the Spireites have also this summer re-signed midfielder Derek Niven on a one year deal, defender Phil Picken on a new two year deal and offered first pro contracts to apprentices Dan Whatsize (goalkeeper), Ben Algar (midfielder) and Dan Gray (midfielder).
