The club had offered a contract for a further season but Fletch has decided that due to family considerations he needs to be relocated back on the South Coast.

The veteran striker had fifteen seasons with Bournemouth before joining the Spireites at the start of this last season.

Steve Fletcher said: "I am disappointed to leave because I love Chesterfield and the welcome I have received.  Manager Lee Richardson has been like a breath of fresh air for me and I am convinced he will bring success to the club.  It has been a difficult decision but in the end the distance away from my family is just too far. I want to continue my football career but within a reasonable travelling distance of my family home.

Steve Fletcher then added "I will always remember my time at Chesterfield."
