Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson has moved quickly to make his first key capture following the disappointment of missing out on promotion this season.
Former Watford, Sheffield United and Coventry City central defender Robert Page, who was contracted to HuddersfieldTown, has signed a pre-contract agreement to sign a deal with Chesterfield when he becomes a free agent during the close season.
The Spireites were pipped during the January transfer window when the 33 year old joined the Terriers until the end of the season after being released by Coventry City.
Speaking at Sunday night's annual Player of the Year Awards night, Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson confirmed that experienced central defender Robert Page would be joining the club next season.
Earlier Huddersfield Town had revealed that they had wanted the player to sign a new deal with them but it looked as though he was going elsewhere.
Lee Richardson commented: "I am really delighted that we have eventually got our man as I expect him to make a major impact on the team with his experience and leadership qualities."
Robert Page is a former Welsh International with 41 international caps.
