WE NEED TO BE MORE PROGRESSIVE

Well
We decided as a board that we wanted a younger manager. We appointed Roy McFarland four years ago to help the Club regain some credibility and he did that. But we feel the way forward now is to get a young hungry manager into the club and we feel we have that man in Lee Richardson. He's not a new face, like I know a lot of supporters wanted to see. But we feel he's the best man for the job at the moment.
You are aware of what Lee wants for the future, the fans only have seen really what's happening on the pitch. Why do you feel he's right for the job?
When you set on any manager you just hope that they are the right one. Of the current football managers available a lot have failed in their previous jobs and been sacked not only once but several times and many over are fifty. We feel
Lee Richardson perhaps the right man but the timing might not be the best?
I don't know about that. Perhaps we should have made this decision a few weeks ago. He's got some exiting modern and fresh ideas to take the Club forward. Which I hope will lead to some exciting times at Saltergate next season. That is assuming of course that we don't lose too many season ticket holders if we are relegated.
Looking at his managerial record it's not the best, so why have the board appointed him?
A lot of the problems stem from a lot earlier in the season and really since the awful result against
Do the board take any responsibility for the state of the Club at the moment?
The only thing we haven't done is put in more money into the club. We have put in around a million pounds which i know are loans but as individuals we cannot afford to do anything else. What we all want supporters and board a like is for someone to come in and pump in several million pounds. We are all trying our very best in running Club and are trying to find someone to take over the football club to take it into the future.
Can you shed any light into the changes Lee Richardson will make?
I will let Lee describe that .But he will have a bigger and more modern looking backroom staff. So we will be looking at more specific coaching, and more fitness and rehab support. But a lot will depend on how many season ticket sales we get. If they are well down that will affect both the players he can sign and his other plans. But we will try and keep the numbers up by giving supporters incentives to buy season tickets.
So are you blaming the fans for not turning up?
No not at all. It's simple the more people turn up to watch the team the more money will be available for the team.
So if you want to encourage support do you think appointing Lee Richardson will hinder season ticket sales?
Not really what's Lee Richardson ever done wrong at
Well he's been here a long time and been part of the coaching staff under Dave Rushbury and Roy McFarland and perhaps tainted in supporters eyes by that
Managers have the responsibility. I thought we had a fair side this season but obviously our league position suggests otherwise. What Lee's got is a knowledge of the current players and he's good contacts within football to rebuild the squad. I think we will see many positive changes for the football club and I think he will be a successful manager for the football club. If we had gone with an older manager in my opinion we would have stood still. So we have decided to go with somebody fresh and if it doesn't work we will hold our hands up.
