Chesterfield FC's Centre of Excellence has come to the aid of football mad youngsters in Africa by supporting a Derbyshire couple who make an annual pilgrimage to support the underprivileged in Kenya.   

Last season's football shirts, shorts and footballs, and outgrown football boots donated by Centre of Excellence youngsters themselves, will soon be on their way to Mombassa in Kenya, courtesy Richard and Chris Street from Pinxton.

The couple were inspired to help the Kenyans after first witnessing the deprivation when on holiday in 1998 and they have given up their holiday to help out each year ever since.

Chris Street said: I want to thank everyone at Chesterfield FC from the bottom of my heart because the youngsters we know in Kenya love to play football but they haven't got any kit or boots. They have now, thanks to the Spireites."
