Well its Monday morning after the derby win over Mansfield and Saltergate certainly is a lot brighter today. This morning, the outfield players are training on the main pitch with Alan Knill, while the Keepers are up at our Cylinders training ground working our socks off with goalkeeping coach Steve Sutton.

We have Christmas Day off, which is very much appreciated by all the lads.
But it certainly won't be a day spent eating mince pies and turkey with all the trimmings! With a game coming up tomorrow we know we have to prepare right

Another 3 points and another clean sheet against Bury is a great result for us. It may not have been the most entertaining game to watch but let's be honest, if we are to get where we want to be with results like that, who would care! Of course we'd love to play great football week in week out but 3 points is all that matters at the end of the day.

For the lads who played yesterday, Thursday morning is spent doing a cool down and getting rubs on the aching muscles from our Masseur, Phil, and fitness coach (drill sergeant) Shinner. The lads who didn't play are up on the training ground being put through their paces by The Chief. Ever since he crossed that line between playing and coaching, The Chief loves to have a moan at the boys, especially during his ridiculous warm-ups!

On the training ground it's an eagerly awaited return of the Young vs. Old match. The day before each League game, we play this game, with the losing team donating £5 each to the kitty. The Old Guys (only 3 players over 30 is not what I'd call old) ran out convincing winners but I won't mention the score to save the Young Guns from embarrassment! The score in games currently stands at 3-2 to the 'Veterans'.

Barnet is a horrible place to play. The pitch has a slant on it unlike any league ground I've ever played at before. We knew before it started that it wasn't going to be a nice game of football and that we'd have to battle hard. So to come away with a 2-0 win was very pleasing .Although Janos Kovac's celebration left a lot to be desired! But 3 points in the bag made the journey back up the M1 an awful lot more enjoyable.
